1.2.1.05 Jobseeker payment (JSP) – description

What is JSP?

JSP is the working age payment that replaced NSA from 20 March 2020.

JSP is an income support payment that offers financial support to people aged 22 years to age pension age who have capacity to work now or in the near future and prepared to satisfy mutual obligation requirements.

JSP will include gain access to for people who have briefly quit working or to recover from a disease or employment injury but who work or study to go back to. When the incapacity ends, and employment unless exempted from mutual commitments requirements (3.11.5), a recipient need to:

– get involved in or be prepared to take part in authorized activities, and/or job search, and
– be prepared to participate in, adhere to or vary an existing Job Plan to fulfil the shared commitment requirements (3.11 ).

How is JSP entitlement determined?

JSP is calculated on a day-to-day basis and is paid in financial obligations, usually in instalments of 2 week. Instalment durations of less than 2 week might be paid where a person modifications their payday plans.

Supplementary assistance

Recipients receiving JSP MAY likewise get one or more of the following as part of their JSP rate:

– energy supplement (1.2.7.50).

JSP was presented on 20 March 2020. The following payments progressively stopped as part of the creation of JSP:

– NSA (1.2.1.10) (stopped on 20 March 2020).
SA (1.2.5.30) (closed to new recipients on 20 March 2020 and stopped on 20 September 2020).
BVA (closed to brand-new receivers on 20 March 2020 and ceased when all existing receivers completed their bereavement duration).
WA (1.2.3.30) (near brand-new receivers on 1 July 2018 and stopped on 1 January 2022).
WP (1.2.3.20) (closed to brand-new recipients on 1 July 1995 stopped on 20 March 2020).
